A gorgeous Saturday afternoon with the Alumni eager to cheer on the Varsity as they looked for redemption against the Nippissing Lakers. The Ravens had numerous chances but could not seem to finish! The unthinkable happened in the 33rd minute with the Ravens letting in a shocking goal to give the Lakers an undeserved 1-0 lead. The Ravens responded at the end of the half to tie the game at 1-1 with a goal from Andrew Latty. The second half started off much like the first with Carleton having numerous chances to put the game to bed. With a younger, less experienced Varsity lineup, the lads just couldn’t find the net! Finally Carleton was rewarded with a brilliant finish from the “Serbian” Alex Cosovic, curling a right footed shot from 30 yards into the top corner.  The game ended 2-1 for the Ravens much to the delight of the all the Alumni in attendance.

Alumni Supporters Cheer on the Ravens

Sunday Carleton looked to take on the very large Laurentian Voyageurs. Numerous supporters were in the stands for the Alumni weekend activities and the cheering began right from the kickoff! Carleton looked to dominate in possession but again failed to put their early chances away. They were then stung again by another poor goal against, when Laurentian slotted one home from well outside the 18 yard box. One of the only highlights in the first half was a “Vintage Carleton” tackle from Ravens’ midfielder Daud “Chris Bosh” Dahir that deservingly gave him a yellow and a standing ovation from the alumni in attendance. Andrew Latty also had chances throughout the match but could not find the back of the net. Laurentian got another cheap goal in the second half from a long distance toe punt that seemed to evade the Ravens keeper. Joey Kewin managed to pull one back for Carleton to make it 2-1 but in the end it was too little and too late and the game ended with a disappointing 2-1 loss.
