Varsity Results:

Carleton vs. Queens @ “Away Home” – Sat. Sept. 9, 3:15PM Kick-off:

RECAP: Your Carleton Soccer Alumni Association meet at Carleton for the second annual bus trip to Kingston, ON to support the Varsity lads on the road.  A few last minute members had to pull out but nonetheless the group was eager to get to the match.  It was a fun ride with lots of laughter and we were very much welcomed into Richardson stadium, greeted from other fellow alumni members who were already present at the game.  We watched the last moments of the Women’s Carleton Ravens until the Toronto Alumni contingent also found their way to the match thanks to Andrew Park and Peter “Pano” Manginas.   Special mention to Jeff Clarke, class of 1982, who was present and Stevie Ball for the photography.  The fun began even before the first whistle with the warm-ups and it did not end until much after the final whistle.  The alumni screamed, chirped and hollered the entire 90min plus.  Emad Houache got Carleton’s first assists with a cross to Dante Cobisa who blasted a rocket past the helpless keeper to open the scoring 1-0 in the 41stminute.  The men scored back-to-back goals in the 64th and 66th minute to blow the game wide open over last year’s OUA East 4th place finishers.  Gabriel “Gabi” Bitar and Stefan Karajovanovic each tallied their fifth goal of the season to extend Carleton’s lead to 3-0.  The score would hold at 3-0.  A big thanks to Kwesi and Carleton Athletics for helping organize the bus and of course to all those who came – many of which decided to spend the night and continue the celebrations in Kingston.  It was another very successful Alumni participated event and one that will surely continue and be circled on the calendar early next year.  Cheers to Varsity for putting on a stellar performance for us and we look forward to giving them the same amount of support at home Alumni weekend.
